We're Moving Soon!

>> Thursday, August 12, 2010

Catholic Mothers Online is soon going to be moving to http://www.CatholicMothersOnline.com

There are many exciting changes coming with the move, and I hope that everyone will enjoy the new site.  The design will still be very similar, but there will be articles more regularly and hopefully content that you really enjoy.  We'll also launch with a giveaway!

I will warn everyone before we move, because it is my intention to try to move the subscriptions to the new blog.  Hopefully with a warning though, if your subscription doesn't get moved, you'll remember to come check out the new site and resubscribe.

Things are moving along well.  I know that some people have been waiting to get added to the blog roll (or to receive the coding, as it will be slightly different).  Thank you for waiting!

There will continue to be advertising spots for 125x125 ads on the upper right column on the new site.  If you are interested in advertising, you can check out the details about advertising on Catholic Mothers Online As a special bonus (and for a limited time), advertising spots will be available for $20 for a three month term, instead of $25.  (Monthly spots are $10/month.)  There are a limited number of spots though, so if you are interested in advertising your business, blog, Etsy shop, or even just a special message, please contact me as soon as possible.  (Simple ads can be designed for you for a small cost, so don't let not having an ad stop you from inquiring.)

I'm very excited for what is to come, and hope you are too!  (I'm also hoping to have everything finished before the date on the countdown on the new site.  Wish me luck!)

Limited Internet Access for a Few Days

>> Monday, June 21, 2010

I'll be back to working on updating the blog roll in just a few days, as well as going through all of the writer applications (I got quite a lot - thanks so much!).  My Internet access is very spotty for a few days, and it looks like it will be for the next few days as well.

Thanks so much!

One More Day to Enter the Rosary Giveaway

>> Monday, February 22, 2010

Be sure to check out the great new toolbar for Catholic families and enter to win a handmade Rosary.  One day left!

I'll be emailing out coding to people who have requested to join in a few days, as well as adding new members at that time.  I have given up the computer for one day per week for Lent this year, so I'll be away until Tuesday morning.  I'll do some updating later that day.

Thanks!

A Little Delay...

>> Thursday, February 4, 2010

I apologize, but I haven't updated the blog roll in about two weeks.  And, unfortunately, I won't be able to get to it until next week.  But, never fear -- I will be updating it next week!  If you have sent me an email and don't get a reply of some sort by February 12th, then send it again.  But, otherwise -- your patience is very much appreciated!

Thanks!

New Blog Roll Members: January 20, 2010

>> Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Please check out our newest blog roll members:

On a side note, Elizabeth has been working her way through the blog roll links lately.  So, please make sure that you are regularly updating your blog (at least once every couple of months, at a minimum) and that the blog roll or blog roll button is somewhere on your blog.  If you are not in compliance, your blog will be removed from the blog roll.  We will not be notifying people when their link is removed.  Sorry!

Advertise on Catholic Mothers Online

>> Monday, October 26, 2009

We are about to add some paid advertising spots on the Catholic Mothers Online blog.  This could be for advertising a website, Etsy shop, product, or your very own personal blog!

They will be very reasonably priced at the present time (just $10/month or $25 if paying for three months at once), which will include a 125x125 pixel button spot near the top of the blog sidebar.

We do reserve the right, however, to only accept ads that would be approriate for our blog and its audience.

Please contact Angie for more information.

Status Update: September 1, 2009

>> Tuesday, September 1, 2009

Just to let everyone know, we have been so busy with quite a few things, and so I haven't updated the blog roll in about two weeks. I am hoping to have time to get to it within the next few days.

Thanks!

Please Help Support Catholic Mothers Online

>> Friday, June 12, 2009

One of the things that I pay for to keep the blogroll running smoothly (the form that people submit their information on) is about to expire. I have always paid for the license for this out of my own pocket, just as I have paid for the hosting of the blog roll (which could have been free, but it included that ads would pop up every single time anyone clicked on any of the links).

I was hoping that today, I might be able to come to you and see if even just a few of you might be willing to donate just a few dollars (even a dollar!) through Paypal so that running the blogroll doesn't continue to cost me money. It doesn't horribly expensive, but I am easily spending $40 - $60/year on it, as well as all of the time involved. The blogroll is not something that I want to make money on, but it's hard to know that it costs me money.

If you feel called to donate just a couple of dollars, please visit the Catholic Mothers Online blog and click on the Paypal button on the right sidebar.

If you would rather not donate, but you have a family friendly business and would like to talk about buying an ad near the top of the sidebar here at the blog, I would love to discuss that as well.

Thank you, and please know that I will not make a practice of these kinds of posts.

I'm a Bit Behind in Updates

>> Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Just wanted to let everyone know that things have been extra busy around here lately, and I'm behind in processing requests to join. Not horribly behind, mind you, but a bit farther behind than I want to be.

It's on my to do list for this weekend -- promise!

So, while you wait for me, why not take a minute to answer a fun question --

If you have one, what is your confirmation name?

(Mine is Martha.)

Working on a New Design

>> Wednesday, March 11, 2009

In my thought to do a makeover in this blog -- making it both a place with articles a couple of times a week (hopefully -- depending on exactly what we have submitted, though we do have articles now), as well as being the home of the blog roll, I thought it was important to have a little bit of an actual visual makeover too.

I'm still in the midst of doing this though, but have to step away from the computer. I will keep working on it, and hope to have it all finished up by Thursday night!

Thanks for all the support!

New Blog Roll Members - March 5th

>> Friday, March 6, 2009

I'm so excited that Blogrolling.com is finally back up and running! Because of this, I have been able to add so many people that have been waiting to be added to the roll for many months! (Those that were signed up before I had to close down sign ups.)

On a quick note, Blogrolling.com is now putting an ad bar at the top of the webpage each time you click through a link on a blog roll. However, the ads can be removed if a $20/year subscription fee is paid. I am hoping that some people might find it in this hearts to donate at least a portion of this money. There is a link in the sidebar now to donate through Paypal. I know money is tight for everyone right now, but even a couple of dollars would help!

Okay, so on to our new members:

Sign Ups Open Again!

>> Thursday, March 5, 2009

We are so excited that blogrolling.com is back up and running! I've been busy adding and deleting blogs today.

Because blogrolling.com is back up, we have opened sign ups back up!

Also -- watch for big changes here! My goal is to not have this be just the hub for the blog roll, but to possibly publish a couple of posts per week about Catholic topics. Anything from attending adoration to how to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with your kiddos.

Here's the thing about these posts, I don't want to write them all. I thought it would be so much better to have a steady stream of guest posts. I'm hoping that it can work out. If you are interested in guest writing about a Catholic topic here at Catholic Mothers Online, please drop me an email! It can even be something republished from your own blog!

Oh, and one more thing! Watch for a new blog design over the next few weeks! I'm pretty darn excited about that!

Blogrolling.com has a re-launch date posted!

>> Saturday, February 21, 2009

I'm excited to see that Blogrolling.com (the site we use to host our blog roll) has announced a re-launch date of March 2nd. We'll finally be ready to start back up after all these long months!

We were just about to go with a different format for keeping up the blogroll because of all the delays, so hopefully this is the answer to our prayers!

So, just a few more weeks, and I hope to start sending out coding to people that are needing it, as well as to add the sign up form back to the blog.

If, for any reason, blogrolling.com doesn't come back up by March 16th, then we'll go back to our alternate plan. So, let's hope for the best, because the alternate plan is a lot more work for those of us involved with the blog roll.

Yes, Blogrolling.com is still down...

>> Sunday, January 25, 2009

After all these months of being down, I'm seriously considering that I might, indeed, have to close down the blog roll if Blogrolling.com is not back up within the next few weeks. Without the ability to make any additions, deletions, or changes for so long, I admit that I have become frustrated and can't seem to figure out any other way to effectively host the blog roll.

Let's pray for something in the next few weeks, okay? Otherwise, it might just be time for a sad goodbye.

Blog Roll Status: Still Closed to New Members

>> Wednesday, December 31, 2008

Please pray with us that Blogrolling.com soon is done with the problems that they have been having and is back up and running. We are still unable to make any addition, deletions, or updates on the blog roll until they are back up.

Of course, in the grand scheme of things, a blog roll is really not that big of a deal when saying our prayers. But, I know that the blog roll means a lot to so many people, and so I'll be praying for the ability to finally get back into the account again soon!

Happy New Year!

Blogrolling.com still down...

>> Sunday, December 14, 2008

Blogrolling.com is still down, so I am still not able to update the Catholic Mothers Online blogroll. They have just updated their site yesterday (after almost a month of no updates) and promised that it looks like they will be back up running soon.

I know that there are so many people who are eagerly wanting to join or have changes made. Trust me -- I would love to be able to do it!

Hopefully Blogrolling.com will have a Christmas present for all of us!

No Updates Until (Hopefully) January 2009

>> Sunday, November 9, 2008

We run the scrolling links on the blog roll through Blogrolling.com. Apparently they were hacked into a few weeks ago. They have decided to not fix their current coding, but to re-do their system. Because of this, they estimate that it will probably be well in to December before members are able to update (add/delete/edit) their blog rolls.

I currently have many blogs to either add, delete, or edit, but I just can't. I would love to, but it's just not possible.

I will close down sign ups until January 2009, and I will just have to hope that they will be back up and running by then.

Thanks for your patience!

We're Staying Open! (But not updating at the moment)

>> Thursday, October 30, 2008

I have good news and not as great news.

The good news is that I have had two bloggers (who are already members of the blog roll) offer to work with me to keep the Blog Roll open! (I'll introduce you to them soon, but just wanted to post about this quickly, in between loads of laundry.)

These special women will be checking through all of the blogs and reporting to me any blogs that need to be removed because they are out of compliance (in regards to the guidelines of the blog roll). I will still be the one adding people, sending out coding, etc.

Okay...and then the not as great news -- Blogrolling.com seems to have been hacked or something of that nature. This is who we use to host the blog roll. So, for about a week, we have been unable to access the blog roll for adding people, etc. Hopefully the issue will be resolved soon, as I have a bunch of people to add in!

Thanks so much! And, thank you to my extra special helpers! I can't wait to introduce you to them!

No New Membership Requests after 10/31/08

>> Thursday, October 9, 2008

It is after much thought and prayer that I have decided to stop accepting new applications to join Catholic Mothers Online as of October 31, 2008.

I wanted to give a few weeks for people to get back to me that coding had been added or to request membership.

I, unfortunately, have realized that I just can't keep up with the maintenance of the roll. Even just getting around to adding people, making changes for them, etc, is time consuming. But, then when you factor in that I need to visit every blog on the roll at least a few times a year to be able to update the list (to get rid of blogs that haven't been updated in a long time, blogs that are gone, etc.), it really adds up to a large time commitment.

People are welcome to leave the blog roll on their blogs or they may remove it. However, after the end of this month, I will no longer be updating it. (I do reserve the right, at some point, to start it back up. But, I don't know that that will happen. If it does, it will definitely be after the new year.)

Thanks so much!

If you appear on the blog roll, but the blog roll isn't on your blog

>> Sunday, March 30, 2008

Pretty soon, I will again be doing the task of verifying that the blog roll appears on all of the blogs that are on the roll.

If I go to your blog and cannot find the blog roll, your blog will be removed from the roll. I apologize, but I will not be contacting people to let them know that they have been removed. I will also, of course, be removing blogs that are no longer in existance, as well as blogs that have not been updated in quite a while. (The membership guidelines state at least one post per month. However, I am considerably more lenient when deciding which blogs to purge from the roll.)

I just wanted to give a fair warning. If your blog is purged from the roll and you think it was by error, please contact me. If your blog was purged and you know why it was purged but still wish to be a member, you will need to fill out a new membership request.

I anticipate doing my checking within this week.

Thanks!
